Final day of the first part of the individual tax season. Another fun year.
Here in the Palm Springs- Palm Desert area, there is no last minute rush to file taxes. There is no late pickup at the Post Office. The last pick up is generally 5 or 5:30pm so if the client doesn’t have it by now, they go on extension so they have time to review the return and put it in the mail.
Today there is a tax protest rally sponsored by the Palm Springs Patriots Coalition from 5:30 to 8:00 pm at the Palm Desert Civic Center Amphitheater. I’m not going, but it gives you an idea of how fired up people are about it out here.
I’m meeting with a few clients, then coming back and cleaning up this mess in my office. I have 5 computer systems in various states of tear down that all need to be stripped and disposed of.
Then early happy hour someplace fun!
I always enjoy the tax season rush, but it really isn’t the same now as it used to be. I’m especially grateful to my Dad and Uncle Frank and the various associates at his firm that took the time to show me how to do taxes back in the stone age when it was all pencils and carbon paper! That was an experience!
